Before coming to UCSF, Ashley did her undergraduate work at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she majored in Cell Biology and French Studies. She did her undergraduate research in the lab of Dr. Dorothy Lewis at Baylor College of Medicine where she studied the role of co-stimulation in T cell activation. She also spent two summers with Pfizer Research and Development optimizing protein expression in mammalian cell lines. As a graduate student in the Tang lab, Ashley is interested in the role played by regulatory T cells in the development of type 1 diabetes.
