Johanna Wagner, MD is a surgical resident at the University Hospital in Wuerzburg, Germany. She completed her medical school as well as her doctoral studies at the University of Marburg, Germany. During residency, she started working on regulatory Tcells (Tregs) in the setting of murine heterotopic heart transplantation in the lab for Experimental Transplantationimmunology of Prof. I. Klein and Prof. C. Otto in Wuerzburg, Germany. This research time was funded by the Clinician Scientist Scholarship of the University of Wuerzburg. In 2019 she joined the Transplantation Research Lab of Prof. Q. Tang and focuses on engineering Tregs using new synthetic biologic tools to improve their specificity and functionality in decreasing the risk for organ rejection after transplantation.
